Feet washing: The true epitome of service

"Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet" John 13:1

I was discussing the "Feet washing" message that Jesus was trying to get across to his disciples with my mother today. She mentioned the symbolism in feet washing and how much humility it represented. As much as I do my best to tell others about Jesus Christ I also realize that God has everyone on a personal journey in their own way of humility in service.

Afterwards God put it on my heart to cook breakfast for a friend and I. Being single and considering God as my true "husbandman" I then realized that the concept of service is ultimately in our acts. Feet washing in itself can be disgusting to a lot of people but when the opportunity presents itself, the humility in hopes to serve in it can be therapeutic. Peter misunderstood what Jesus was trying to do and at times people can misunderstand our service. When we however serve for the right reasons, getting an appreciation or honorable mention from God above can keep our leadership and service authentic.

I encourage my readers to meditate on this concept. Who are those among you needing a nice meal? You are a provider of food to them but a servant to the most high God. Who are those around you needing the positive words that they yearn to hear yet you may not know how to say them? You may serve as a counselor but to God you are a servant. What do you yearn to hear from others? Trust that the true hearer (God above) is listening to jot down your moment of honorable mention! Jesus was a Lord that knew what to say yet also knew what to do to get across his message of a true servant. This is why we should try to be more like Jesus!

Modern Day Woman

The modern day woman is wise. She knows who to go to in order to get what she wants. She faithfully gets down on her knees, clasp hands tight, close her eyes and tries to get her prayer right. She understands that there is a God who hears her and oh so willing to meet her, at this very moment He sees her.

The modern day Woman needs help. She knows her allies and at the same times tries to be there for any and everyone that calls her name: Mama, Sister, Aunt, Leader, name from birth. She speaks with the intelligence that life made of her. Her intellect is gathered piece by piece and driven by the request layed at her feet.

She could have possibly been convinced that a good man is all she needs but as life goes on that man is also told he has to need. She strives to understand how possible it is to make others happy. She critiques, she speaks and grow all at the same time. She knows exactly what it means to be called child, of God.

Her Adam calls her: True. He can tell her when she is right and when she is wrong. The truth she receives from Him whether right or wrong is  gladly received by being in agreement because she knows her role under the judgement of a living God. Her Adam instructs her because he trust her. His life connected with hers makes no sense without her.

The modern day Woman stands firm, moves her hips and uses her body language to signify her right to be authority. She doesn't care to control her children but strongly mind to protect them. She is significant not because of who she is told she is but because she knows she is. Her authority speaks to the very heart of mankind. She wants peace and strategically instructs in order to maintain it.

Her love runs deep. So deep the gates of hell cannot dry up her love and keep it from blessing others. For love excites her and fear ignites her. As a matter of fact she uses fear to move her feet to make ends meet. She understands love is so far beyond sex and man. Her love satisfies needs beyond her body speech.
